Savannah Energy: N’Djamena plans compensation
On 27 March, the Extraordinary Council of Ministers expressly approved the draft law on nationalising the oil assets of Esso Exploration and Production Chad and Esso Pipeline Investments Ltd. On 31 March, President Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno promulgated the law.

In particular, it provides for the compensation of Savannah Energy. The text, a copy of which we have obtained, states that “compensation for the measures provided for in Article 1 shall be determined jointly by the Ministers of Hydrocarbons and Energy and Finance, Budget and Public Accounts”.
