Auchan Retail creates an African division
The French retailer is set to launch in Algeria, its third African market, in the last quarter of 2023 and is changing its organisation.

Laurent Leclerc has been appointed President of Auchan Retail Senegal. In this new role, he will pilot and deploy the brand across the continent, Africa Business+ has learnt. This was already the case, as Senegal is the group’s home base in Africa, where it established itself at the end of 2014 and achieved sales of €218 million in 2022 (out of a total of €33.5 billion).
